Grrrr Deliveries!!

Just had a delivery driver knock on my door adamant that he left a parcel on my doorstep yesterday while we were out.
About two weeks ago a parcel was left on our doorstep for a neighbour in the next lane down. We rang the number and he said he was at the airport and would send someone to collect it but it was not collected.
He then rang again yesterday saying he was now home ,while we were out, about collecting it and when we got home it was gone.
He must have collected the parcel delivered yesterday at the same time.
Trying to explain all this to the driver was a nightmare as he had been told they had not received their parcel and he was acting like we had stolen it saying that he would have to pay for it!!!
I told him to go to the correct address and take it up with them.
Just take it to the right address in the first place!!!!
Rant over.

I'm confused... The first mis-delivered parcel sat on your doorstep for a fortnight? Or you took it in for safekeeping and no-one called for it? Then another parcel arrived yesterday while you were out and you think the first courier finally came for it and took the new parcel back by mistake. Is the second parcel for you? In which case it should be re-delivered correctly when it gets to the depot - or you can hopefully take it up with the sender. Or has the neighbour come round and grabbed your second parcel without looking and his first parcel is still where you put it safely?
I think you're right with GrrrrrrI need to think of something new here...0 -
I'm also confused with this, can you clear up exactly what happened?0

I've read it twice and can't grasp what happened.0

Are you saying you left the parcel on your doorstep for the 2 weeks ?0 -
Sorry it was not clear.
Yes he said he was sending someone around to collect it and we told him we would leave it outside for them to pick up as we were going out. He did not ask us to hold onto it until he came back which we would of done
We were out yesterday all day when he rang to say he was back home, and was going around to pick it up, When we got home it was gone.
Then today a delivery driver knocked to say he had left a parcel yesterday on the doorstep. He did not say at first who for and I told him there was no parcel left.
He got really funny with me and started saying that he would have to pay for it as if I was lying and had 'stolen' it!!
It took a while to work out (and explain to the driver) that it was the same person that the first parcel was for and he must have picked it up when he collected the first one.
I told the driver to go to the house it should have been delivered to and take it up with them(as he had been told to go and collect the parcel and take it to the correct address)
IMO parcels should not be left if no one is in but it happens all the time.
I am really fed up with delivery companies there always seems to be a problem. I try to collect now as much as possible.0 -
I am so happy that delivery companies will leave in a nominated safe place or leave with a neighbour. Even click & collect from certain shops or some retailers (like Amazon) use lockers. I would hate to have to try to arrange re-delivery or traipse over to the depot to pick up a parcel.0

Right - both were for the neighbour... You put the first one back out on the day neighbour said he would come and get it (because you were going out) and then a second one was delivered wrongly and neighbour naturally grabbed both. Then it's the second driver who came to correct their mistake and had a go at you. Well - if he delivered it wrong and failed to put a card through your (wrong) door then it's definitely the courier's fault. If it hadn't been for the first one - you would have been saying "What parcel?" and anybody could have swiped it. You are still right with GrrrrI need to think of something new here...0

Yes, that is it. thank you.
I had no idea about the second parcel until the driver knocked asking for it today, there was no card .
His attitude really annoyed me as he made me feel like he was accusing me of lying and he was quite aggressve at first, he said he had been told to collect it and deliver it to the correct address. It was when I asked him who it should have been delivered to I could only assume the neighbour had picked them both up.
Either said neighbour has not told them he now has it in his possession or the driver had not been informed.0 -

That is all well and good but that is not the case here.
Firstly, it was not left 'with a neighbour' it was left at a completely different address wrongly, both times.
The driver who came today said the company had given him the wrong sat nav destination and he needed the parcel back to deliver to the correct address.
He would not believe me when I said there was no parcel left on our doorstep yesterday.0
