If the date was on your non-availability list, write to the Judge by letter (get someone to print it in England and squiggle a signature above your printed name and post it), telling him/her that the date is one where you are working for your Oz visa and cannot fly over.

Suggest alternative dates.

If you get refused then you'd have to let the hearing take place without you but to avoid being considered unreasonable you'd have to give the court written notice (a second letter, always with the claim number at the top, obvs) stating that you are unable to attend and wish the case to be heard on the papers in your absence.

That is not ideal and you'd have to file really strong papers & evidence even to avoid the added fake 'costs' their rep will steer the Judge to allow.
