eon phishing email
i just received an email from eon entitled "payment confirmation return"
seems to suggest i have a refund; reads: Income Payment Refund refund (refund mentioned twice).
"you are eligible for a payment refund of £498.29 GBP"
"our records indicate that you have paid more than you should have for your eon service from 2016-2018 and because of this reason, we have decided to refund you the total amount that you have overpaid"
if i hover my mouse over the eon logo the web link looks genuine but if i hover my mouse over the "claim your refund" link it reads https//bangkokperfectresidence.com/noc/
ive not had any eon services ever

Hello singhini and thank you for posting about this. These emails aren't from us.
I can confirm, we're aware of phishing emails being sent to our customers and non-E.ON customers by fraudsters. These emails advise we're contacting them about refunds for overpayments made between 2016 and 2018.
Our IT teams were on this quickly and no customer data has been compromised. Please delete the email and don't click on any links. If a link has been clicked and a password entered on the website that opened thereafter, passwords should be changed immediately.
This phishing email campaign has been reported to the police. If customers want to report the phishing attempt or if they've lost money, they can report it as a crime to the police via Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040 or http://www.actionfraud.police.uk/.
I'm sorry for any inconvenience or confusion caused.
