Just had an email supposedly from EON telling me I'm due a refund. Obviously a fake - never been with EON.

Looks genuine though. Many who are with EON might be tempted to click on the embedded links.

Hello JohnB47 and thank you for your post. I've just replied about this on a separate thread started by singhini. Hope you don't mind if I repeat my comments here.

I can confirm, these emails aren't from us and we're aware of phishing emails being sent to our customers and non-E.ON customers by fraudsters. These emails advise we're contacting them about refunds for overpayments made between 2016 and 2018.

Our IT teams were on this quickly and no customer data has been compromised. Please delete the email and don't click on any links. If a link has been clicked and a password entered on the website that opened thereafter, passwords should be changed immediately.

This phishing email campaign has been reported to the police. If customers want to report the phishing attempt or if they've lost money, they can report it as a crime to the police via Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040 or http://www.actionfraud.police.uk/.

I'm sorry for any inconvenience or confusion caused.
