Parking Eye PCN

My wife took my lad to a party at DW and was there for 2 hours and 20 mins and she didn't realise that you have to put your registration number in the computer that is on the desk in reception. Well this week we have received a PCN from ParkingEye LTD saying that we have a parking charge of £100 but if we pay within 14 days its £60. Ive read loads on the internet about just ignoring these PCNs and that they are only a scam but i was talking to a guy at work who said his wife got one from another private company and she ignored it and she got a CCJ put on her credit score and had to pay £400 to get it cleared. If we choose to ignore the PCN (even though my wife was at fault for not putting her car registration into the computer screen at the desk) are we likely to get a CCJ put on my credit score for not paying it or do i just bite the bullet and pay the £60.

Any help in this mater will be greatly received because it is playing on my mind whether to pay it or not.

if you IGNORE it then it is highly likely to go to court

however, a CCJ only happens if the court claim isnt settled IN FULL within one month of the judgment by the judge (if you lost in court)

so no it wont go to a CCJ if you pay promptly should you lose

ignoring the court triggers the CCJ onto the credit file where it stays for 6 years , so if you lost , PAY UP , IN FULL , WITHIN ONE MONTH

WHAT did the landowner say when you complained and asked for a cancellation ?

have you read the NEWBIES FAQ sticky thread ? (which explains all this topic)
  • You will only get a CCJ if a small claim is issued against you, you ignore it, lose by default AND don't pay what the Judge orders within usually 30 days. (bit like your mates wife I suspect)

Alternatively you can keep a close eye on your mail especially if you move within the next 6 years and if you receive a LBA/LBCCC or MCOL reply accordingly.

Up to you whether you pay the £60 now or learn more about the game these scammers play ie: Parking Lie and choose to fight back.

If its the latter, realise now a sterling effort is required including reading LOTS on here (especially newbies thread) and it takes up time.

First thing to do though is edit your post to remove identity of driver, its always advised never to identify driver, puts you in a much stronger position

Please start by reading the Newbies Sticky - which will inform you properly and lay-out what you need to do to get shot of this.

And don't waste our time if you are in any way seriously thinking about paying this - We don't enable scammers or those complicit with them here.
  • Thank you for your reply I admit I’m new to all of this and could you put me in the right direction as to how I edit my original post please

You click the Edit Post button at the bottom of it - If you are on a phone, it may be accessed via a side menu. Top right on most I've seen.
