It took a 'locksmith' 30 seconds to get into a friend's house when they lost the keys. The lock was not touched at any point during the process. You’ll be surprised how many locks the locksmiths can pick open without needing to change them

The outside metre has definitely been changed, they have left £25 credit in for the time being.
I dug out the last letter I received which was just a regular reminder bill. No mention of Court etc.
The bill was for £500, £200 has been added in fees now.
I’m ok with the fact the metre has been fitted, it needed paying at the end of the day but it has left me very uneasy about being in my home where someone has been in without changing the locks or anything. And the dog is still terrified

If you are still worried about people gaining access, you could spend a few quid and change your locks for anti-bump ones - easy to change most household locks yourself.0

Better to use the money to pay the energy debt off quicker. If you are still worried about people gaining access, you could spend a few quid and change your locks for anti-bump ones - easy to change most household locks yourself.
If the locks are changed for more secure ones (and how do you know they were 'bumped' to get in?) then if there is a next time they will just use another method to gain access. More security potentially means greater damage, and an increased cost to repair - a bill which the OP will be paying himself.
I would only change the locks if there were a genuine concern about burglary, rather than concern about authorised people seeking lawful entry."In the future, everyone will be rich for 15 minutes"0 -
What was the date of the last reminder letter (or, more pertinently, the date you opened it)? There would have been numerous letters sent between that stage and forcing entry, which is always a last resort. No free lunch, and no free laptop

Maybe they entered and then discovered the meters were fitted outside? If the locks havent been changed then they will have picked them. If they are bog standard Euro cylinder locks as used on modern upvc doors then this would have been easy for most competent locksmiths. People engaged in this work do not take it personally. They have a valid warrant, they execute it. In/out/move on to next job,,simples.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0
