Reclaim PPI applied to Northern Rock mortgage by Lloyds agent

Hello.
In 1997, I took out a repayment mortgage on a private house with Northern Rock. The estate agency was headed up by Lloyds Black Horse estate agents. The staff member I dealt was was very insistent that I needed to take out insurance in case I was unable to meet my repayments. Despite repeated requests for clarity, I had no clear idea what I was signing up to, then or now.
What actions, if any - are open to me, please?
Steve

You would make a complaint to the agents.
Do they still exist?0 -

None. It is 8 years prior to regulation.
Black Horse Agencies changed hands and no longer exists. You have no-one to complain to. You did not use a Lloyds agent. Lloyds retail banking had nothing to do with Black Horse Agencies. It was a standalone company within the group. It was not manned by bank staff.
BHA sold to to Bradford and Bingley who then later sold it to Countrywide. However, as its pre-regulation, none of that matters. You have no-one to complain to.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only.
