118 118 - credit file reporting

Options
Hello all,

Has anyone had any luck with 118 118 getting to comply with amending credit files?

They are still reporting on me now even though they sold my debt a long time ago - they sent me back an email last night after weeks and weeks of waiting for a response stating that I should contact Lowell who purchased the debt. I feel like im banging my head against a brick wall, how can they possibly be reporting on a debt that no longer belongs to them?!

    Has it actually been sold - or just passed for collection?

    What status are they reporting? Is it accurate?

    Are Lowell also reporting? If so, what?
  • Do you mean it’s still showing as defaulted on your credit files?

    So long as it’s showing a zero balance and marked as settled and Lowell are reporting it with the balance and the original default date then it’s correct and doesn’t need amending

    Thanks for your replies, the debt has been sold to Lowells. Lowells reported also and they have done their part correctly as I came to a partial settlement figure with them. 118 118 have not defaulted me, and are reporting each month (I am trying to log in to noddle but I have low signal at the mo) to see what entries they have placed since it was sold.
  • What do your other credit files say?

    Experian and Equifax?

    How can 118118 have sold the loan or passed it to collectors if they have not defaulted it?
    How can you know that they are still reporting it but not know what entries they have made?

    @LOVEHB

    You want 118118 to have defaulted your account, backdated to when you were 3-6 months in arrears. This is to comply with ICO guidelines (see linked thread below). It means the account will be removed from your credit files earlier, six years from the date of default. Otherwise the debt will only be removed six years from the date you partially satisfied the account.

    I would request that 118118 make the change to your credit file in the form of a written complaint. This would enable you to escalate to the FOS and ICO , should they not comply with ICO guidelines.
