C8 Eolys Fluid
MY C8 DISPLAT SAYS DIESEL ADDITIVE MINIMUM LEVEL AND WHEN I CALLED DEALER THEY QUOTED £500-£600 TO TOP IT UP!
IT NEEDS EOLYS FLUID WHICH IS £32 A LITRE AND I NEED 4-5 LITRES.
FOUND SOMETHING CALLED ADBLUE THAT DOES THE SAME JOB BUT IN TRUCKS AND WONDERED IF THIS WOULD WORK IN MY CAR?
ADBLUE IS 67.5% DISTILLED WATER AND 37.5% UREA SO ALL I NEED TO KNOW IS WHAT ARE THE COMPONENTS OF EOLYS?
ANYONE ABLE TO HELP ME PLEASE?

You need the addative topping up for the FAP filter.
Its routeen stuff for anyone with a Pug/Cit HDi engine.
A tip: When you fuel up at a filling station - fill the tank, rather than putting a tenner in here, a tenner in there - it uses up more of the addative.0 -
Also, have a read of this... http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=5704060

Thanks Always Do Fill Up Every Time But Only Had The Car 8 Months The Previous Owner Probably Only Put A Bit In At A Time And Subsequently Left Us With This ProblemTOTTY :j0

Indeed. So get it topped up - shop around for a better price. Try a Peugeot dealer as it's the same engine/system.0

Alternatively, don't top it up and ignore the message. If the system works the same way as lorries, it'll merely mean you've got a Euro4 emissions level instead of Euro5. Not sure how that'll affect MOT time though.0

But manual says car will go into 'limp home mode' and won't rev above 2000rpm and then will have to go to garage if i don,t top it up. A;
lso not 100% sure how system works as noone willing to tell me as yet but thanks anyway.TOTTY :j0 -

Ah. Ignore what I said then - it obviously makes a difference. Basically all it does is inject the stuff into a catalyst in the exhaust where it reacts with the exhaust gases to reduce the emissions by turning the NOx into water and nitrogen - basically like a catalytic convertor in a petrol car but for diesels. It doesn't get mixed with the diesel.0 -

the car goes into limp mode of you ignore it for too long. Thus causing more agro...0 -
You could just get rid of it!!
These cars seem to be more trouble thana they're worth!!
You could also ask on this forum, which is partly dedicated to these cars. www.eurovan2.com/forum
My 807, as you can see has caused no end of problems, and I'm ending up with a new engine.
Hope you get it sorted.
