They can't do that, because it makes it too easy for the spammers to disrupt the system. IIRC they tried it last year and the spammers caused a lot of aggravation by creating accounts purely for the purpose of reporting posts as spam when they were not spam. It's a difficult balancing act...

Would it be possible to only allow users to report spam if they've say, a) been registered for at least a year and, b) made at least 50 non-spam posts?

You think I should stop reporting spam? I've done hundreds over the last week or so.

My point is really that if there was a quicker way of getting spam posts taken down then perhaps you wouldn't have needed to report hundreds of them in the first place!
