Housing Benefit Help

Hi everyone, just after some information.
I claim JSA at the moment with HB/CTB too.
I’ve just accepted a job for 21 hours per week over 3 days.
Once I sign off, will I just update my local council that I’m working part time?
Plus, my training is full time and may be times I do more hours, would I just supply them with regular payslips to show this? As I know the more hours I do the less help I’d be entitled to.

Yes and yes.....
You need to be prepared for delays to your HB payments while your local authority reassess your entitlement.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0 -
That’s fine. I’ll make sure I keep the council and my housing association up to date throughout.0

As long as you satisfy the criteria here then you are entitled to a 4 week run on of HB“You’re only here for a short visit.

I will look into that too. Thanks.
When I sign off JSA do I have to claim my housing contribution through UC? The calculators seemed to think so.0 -

No. If you were making a new claim for help with rent you would have to claim Uc but because you already receive Housing Benefit it is simply a change of circumstances which does not require a new claim.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Do you know why the calculators say that I’d get housing contributions of £34.
However it says if I claimed UC I’d be entitled to just over £60.
How can I do the same hours and be in the same circumstances but get more if I was on UC?
Is there anything else I can claim?0 -
Sometimes you get more when claiming UC but you have to really make sure of this before you decide to claim it.Do you know why the calculators say that I’d get housing contributions of £34.
