Insurance if I carry out the work myself

Hello,
Has anyone had experience in building an extension (Or most of it) themselves?
I am going to have the foundations built, then build the rest myself, how would i go about getting insured for this? If i damage mine or my neighbours property? Is there a liability insurance i can get? I am not a contractor but a very good DIYer

Check your existing household insurance for what coverage it provides for third parties, including neighbours.Has anyone had experience in building an extension (Or most of it) themselves?

For your own property you will probably need to look at the level of accidental damage cover you have (e.g. whether DIY damage is covered).
If you are not covered under your household policy (or cannot add this to the policy) then I suspect you will struggle to find stand alone cover as a DIYer (not least because an underwriter would have great difficulty in assessing your competence and determining the risk of you demolishing your neighbour's house.)"In the future, everyone will be rich for 15 minutes"0
