A television classic, often drawing in audiences of over 20 million, Steptoe and Son is the story of the love-hate relationship of a widower father and his unmarried son who run a decrepit rag-and-bone business in London. Written by Ray Galton and Alan Simpson and starring Harry H Corbett and Wilfrid Brambell as Harold and Albert Steptoe the ongoing battles between father and son struck a chord with the nation.
Packed full of quarrelsome antics and colourful repartee, this boxset features all eight series, screened between 1962 and 1974, and both of the Christmas specials from 1973 and 1974. This definitive collection includes everyone’s favourite Steptoe episodes such as:

‘The Holiday’ (series 1) - Albert is not happy with Harold’s choice of destination and uses his crafty ways to change his mind.
‘A Box in Town’ (Series 4) - Harold breaks out on his own. But this doesn’t stop Albert interfering in his sons love life, ironically this leads to Albert having more luck with the ladies himself, but has he got the energy…
‘!!!!!! Yesterday’ (Series 8) – Harold picks up an old ‘What the Butler saw machine’ on his rounds and after paying his penny and having a look is shocked when he recognises the actors face…

Also released on 29th October is Steptoe and Son: The Christmas Specials, priced £15.99. This festive DVD features the 1973 Christmas special The Party and the final ever episode, the 1974 Christmas Special A Perfect Christmas.

Best bit I think is where he is sat in the kitchen sink and stands up to dry himself on the curtains.................
    Classic comedy at its best.
I used to fall about with laughter watching them in the late 60's early 70's.
