VENT: Stamps are only sticky for 30 days!!!

According to Royal Mail sticky stamps are only guaranteed to be capable of being used for 30 days from purchase!!

After that you're not allowed to stick them on with sellotape....

Instead they say you must use prittstick...presumably so that the extra sticky stuff from the prittstick jams up their machines!!!!!

You couldn't make this up....

I still have stamps that my late father bought in bulk probably 10 years ago that are completely usable still. I've never know a stamp to not be capable of being stuck on a clean envelope after any period of time.

I'm pretty sure some stamps must sit longer than 30 days in the book behind the counter...

The point about sellotape is that can stop the sorting machinery from correctly identifying first from second and spotting re-used stamps.

Obviously the problem is that the OP isn't licking hard enough :p
I need to think of something new here...

    You clearly can!
  • By sticky I mean sticky to the touch....ie 'self-adhesive', no licking required

The other 'old style ones' are called 'gummed'...and do require licking [and I'm sure are still stickjable after several decades...it's gum after all.

Yes, they still last months, if not years. I tend to buy lots of self adhesive books of stamps just before price rises and they sit in my drawer until they get used up or I buy another lot the following year. Never experienced any losing their stickiness.

The ones I am currently using are at least a year old and stick fine. Maybe it is the conditions you are keeping them in.

We bought a pile of Christmas style self adhesive stamps about 6-7 years ago.

We only use them at Christmas time and, due to the introduction of online postage, very infrequently so we still have a few left.

No loss of stickiness when we used them last Christmas.

    • The poor only have expenses.
    • The middle class buy liabilities they think are assets.

Still sticky. So perhaps you can add some context to your whine?
