King's Cross station to Heathrow airport

What's the best/cheapest way to do this journey by public transport? Have tried to find out from the web but it seems beyond me and there are many options! Anybody done it recently or regularly?
thanks

Single on the tube £4 cash, £3:50 oyster between 7-7, or £2 Oyster at any other time including Bank Holidays. Takes about 1 hour no changes.

Yep the piccadilly line goes straight there like pompeyrich says. Just make sure you get on one that goes all the way to heathrow rather than one taking the branch off to Uxbridge. Park your bags close to you, sit back and enjoy the ride!
