Upstairs redecorating and part renovate

Options
Hi

I am having upstairs all redone over next couple. Is £6.5k a fair quote for below:

-wallpaper removed, full ‘re skim to x3 rooms
-landing skim
-loft hatch forming into new landing
-electrics and chandelier fitted to master bedroom
-new radiator fitted x4 bedrooms (price may vary on pipework)
-skirting boards x4 bedrooms
-skirting to top of landing and staircase
-door frames & doors fitted X5
-laminate to staircase

Thanks

Reality is we don't know whether it is a good price or not.

    There are too many variables.

A full reskim may including bonding - that will affect the price.

Electrics and chandelier to bedroom. What exactly? How many sockets, switches etc.

Size and style of radiators. How will the pipework run? Will they replace damaged floor boards?

Skirting boards and second fix carpentry. What is the spec? MDF? Oak? Oak veneer? Type of doors?

You will only know if this is s decent price by getting other quotes.

We currently have spotlights - those to take out and instead chandelier fitted in new space in middle of room. 1 new socket in each bedroom

The radiators will be in same space as currently but pipework may need to be smaller as radiators are smaller. The radiators we are looking at are around £100 each

MDF skirts and architraves. Door are oak, veneer wood grain

    Hope that helps
  • There are still lots of variables. To me it sounds expensive but as per the first reoky a couple of extra quotes would help you appreciate whether the initial quote is expensive or not.

You may find it cheaper to break it down into tasks/tradespeople although it would probably take longer and require some coordination from yourself. You'd also get an expert in each area (plumber/joiner/plasterer) rather than a jack of all trades builder that is not an expert in anything.
