As I get older (I'm 60 now) I find that my friends and partner (and me) appreciate experiences more than things - which become just more "stuff". So, maybe find something he's always wanted to do - get him to talk about his childhood, teenagehood, etc. you might find something that he hasn't done for many years, or used to enjoy - that you can do together. My friend recently took her husband to see a Kate Bush tribute band which he really enjoyed, for example.0
