Instant purchase alerts/notification for VISA or Mastercard?

Does anyone know of a VISA or MASTERCARD issuer that has an app which sends notifications when a transaction has taken place?

I have an Amex card and the app instantly pushes an alert to my phone to notify me. This is very useful for keeping track of continuous card transactions (e.g. subscriptions). Paypal app has this function too.

Thanks in advanced!

Mastercard are bringing this is as a requirement on all card providers in the near future (early next year I think, not sure of the date). i.e. All lenders who use Mastercard will have to offer this to their customers.

It should allow you to set up an alert based on amount, channel (e.g. if it's an online transaction) or if it's a foreign transaction. If you wanted everything I suppose you could set your alert level to 1p or above.

How it's implemented would be down to the card provider.

A monthly statement doesn't tell you about statements until days or weeks after they've happened. Many people might be quite interested to know straight away if, for instance, a foreign currency transaction occurred on their card when they're *not* on holiday.

I can see pending transactions within a couple of hours, maybe it's less, on my Halifax mastercard. You can check your transactions regularly if you feel you need to know daily what is going on and think not knowing immediately will somehow stop a refund of a fraudulent charge

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Unless there is a minimum threshold you can set.
Santander current accounts allow you to set up alerts for all transactions above a user-specified value, but the minimum value you can choose is 100 pounds, so you can’t get notifications for every transaction.
  • That's not really the question that was asked though, is it?

My son's GoHenry card sends an instant message to mobile phone whenever it is used (or attempted to be used), so clearly the tech exists

That's not the same as logging in to check your statement.

    Indeed - hence
