Hole In My Shorts (in the rear)

I bought a pair of shorts in August but only wore them the other day for the first time. They were then washed for the first time but, during ironing, I spotted a hole - sadly, in the rear, on the seam. :o

After saying to my son that I intended to take them back to the shop, he refused to accompany me due to the imminent embarrassment he'd suffer by my side in the shop.

I think they're a manufacturing fault - what say you?

Without seeing them there is no way of knowing whether it is a manufacturing defect or not, it could just as easily be from catching on something when worn or from them being too small and when sitting down the force has stretched them until the seam has come apart.

If its the seam, a needle and thread will sort it out in a couple of minutes
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

Images corrected now - it's in the seam but it isn't just a matter of the thread coming away from the fabric (which I could easily sew). The fabric itself has torn.

Looks to have been stressed to breaking point. I can't see any evidence of a manufacturing fault, I'm afraid. You've also had the item for several months.

While the shop may well replace or refund, it will be a goodwill gesture rather than any right you have as a consumer (in my opinion).

Not surprised your son won't accompany you ;)

Perhaps your son feels you have put too much stress on the shorts?

Straining of stitches shows it's very basic quality , try buying better quality clothes.you will need to pay more, try something that contains Elastane.it's a faulty item or it's too small.
This post is getting a bit pervy..
