Abbey National Health Insurance / PPI

Hi,
I need some guidance pls.
I had an Abbey National mortgage on my property and I had some sort of health insurance/ppi against it. I was a director of my own company at the time. The company went into liquidation due to my health and I tried to make a claim to fulfill my mortgage payments because I was under the impression that the insurance/ppi I had would cover me only to be told it did not. I can vividly remember at the time being told that my employment situation being a director meant that I didn't have a valid claim and I can remember being angry at the time and asking what was the point of me paying a large premium per month if I was in fact not covered. I didn't chase it at the time because mentally I had more than enough on my plate already.
This has bugged me for many years because the lack of protection I thought I had necessitated in me having to sell what was the house of my dreams and I felt very mislead.
The problem I have atm is I have very little information only bank statements showing the payments going out on a monthly basis and at this stage I'm just looking for some guidance as to where to start to try and dig up more information. This was back in 2000 but I also had a mortgage prior to that for many years.
Thank you for any help/advice.

Sounds like you had Life and Critical Illness insurance. Doesn't sound mis-sold either I'm afraid.0
