I'll not comment on your original question, but I shall add this.
Late last year I found myself in a nightmare situation. Father died, certain people unhappy with the will. I posted on here about Inheritance Act claims and various other related issues and received a multitude of legal points/tips/things I could/should do. It was completely unknown territory for me, and I was nearly sick with worry, so I spoke to a specialist solicitor. He gave me EXACTLY the same advice as I'd received on here. I got a big bill for his trouble when I needn't have bothered. Had it gone further than it eventually did, I didn't want my defence to be "because some guys on the internet said".
Some people on here are lawyers and solicitors and experts etc. You can trust them. Even if they are only contagious baristas!

Thanks for the update. Peter doesn't look to have a leg to stand on and is probably just trying to pressurise John into feeling guilty. It may be that his lawyer isn't aware of the explanation in the will - let Peter throw good money after bad by paying for legal advice. If John wants it to stop it might be worth sending a certified copy of the will with the relevant explanation highlighted and require them to stop any action and confirm that this has been done. If Peter is using a no win no fee lawyer and has withheld this material fact, he'll likely find himself with a handsome legal bill as it's improbable that anyone would have taken the case on that basis f they'd been aware of all the facts.
