Tax Credits Stopped in Error 3 years in a row

This is doing my head in. I put in my WTC renewal before the end of July deadline and have been waiting ever since for it to be processed. My income is variable and last year was considerably lower than the year before, so I should be due a substantial back payment.

I have been tracking the renewal via the app, which always said it was being processed, until today, when it suddenly said that I couldn’t access my account online and would have to ring them.

I did and was told that my claim had been ended, apparently in July, though I wasn’t informed of this and have continued to receive monthly payments. For this reason, they said, my renewal had not gone through.

I asked why it had been ended and the woman said that it was an error and she would reinstate it. She said the same thing had happened to lots of people. It’s the third year in a row it has happened to me. Last year, it took a formal complaint to get it reinstated, and I was told then that someone had erroneously recorded that I had stopped working. I have been in constant employment with the same employer for the past five years

Has anyone else experienced this? I am just about fed up with it. I have always been scrupulously careful regarding my tax credits, reporting any changes immediately, and renewing in good time. I find this whole situation hugely stressful.
