Which boiler? Ideal or Worcester?

Options
Hi everyone,

We are looking to get a new boiler and after some research, I’m struggling to decide which one is better!

Our heating engineer has recommended the Ideal Logic+ Combi C30 boiler as he says this is their top range one (7 year warranty) and the Worcester Bosch Greenstar 30i Combi Gas boiler.

He’s advised us the ideal logic is their top range one, whereas the Worcester is the low range of their products. While we do take his point, reviews online are saying how ideal as a company tend to be a bit funny when it comes to if there are any problems with the actual boiler.

Does anyone have either or can help us make a decision? The price difference is £100 so while it’s not a lot, it could help pay for the hive if we were to go for the cheaper option. But I have heard Worcester are particularly good.

Hope you can help!

Never ideal, poor boilers and even worse customer service.

All plumbers seem to recommend ideal, why is this? Ive had 3 quotes and all said ideal c30 or c30+, with either 7 or 5 year warranty. Do they get a big kickback from them or something? According to them this boiler is the nuts!?

From this month's Which magazine ...
    1. Worcester
    2. Viessmann

    3. Vailant
    4. Ideal ("has shot up the rankings this year")

When I need to replace mine, i will go for another Vaillant (as I have now) or possibly Worcester. Every time I see reviews of them, these get top marks.

I have an ideal logic plus combi and it is a good boiler, in the past ideal had a bad reputation with some of their boilers so some installers don't like them.

No ideal but I'd imagine it's because most manufacturers offer rewards for installers fitting there boilers, I'd guess ideals scheme is good and the boilers are cheap.

I service and repair boilers for a living and ideal hasn't made a decent boiler since the classic 20yrs ago.

We replaced our dead worcester boiler a couple of years ago. The heating engineer who did it was a colleague of a builder friend, he stated he no longer did worcesters as they were no longer the quality that our old boiler was. He recomended Atag (same price but he has a higher opinion of the brand).

he seemed surprised I was aware of the brand.. 20 years ago when my mum had her kitchen done we choose an Atag oven and it is still going strong!
I did get a quote from another person and they quoted the same price for a worcester boiler. But choose thd atag as i have never had a cooker last as long as my parents' one (mum used to use hers more than I ever have).
Dogs return to eat their vomit, just as fools repeat their foolishness. There is no more hope for a fool than for someone who says, "i am really clever!"
