  • I activated my N26 account with driving licence no video chat required. Account now up and running and card on way. App looks good to me so far but very basic. Can’t seem to store payees anywhere to use again.

I'm interested in the packaged option with worldwide travel and mobile insurance - the n26 black card
The mobile insurance seems a pretty weak proposition:

    "Mobile Phone Theft
Reimbursement for a stolen mobile phone that was purchased with your N26 Black account."

    Hi,

Is there likely to be a credit check for this account? I am interested but will be applying for a mortgage in 2 months time so trying to prevent a credit search.

    Thanks

Getting an N26 card is extremely unlikely to affect your ability to get a mortgage.

    So go ahead.

I too received an email declaring that "The N26 Beta is here" and "The wait is over! You can now set up your N26 account." Further information is sparse except that direct debits and crediting salary payments won't be available "for the first few weeks. So what exactly do I do with it? Well, I can presumably credit the account and spend the credit and that's about it. Reminds me a lot about the initial launch of Monzo except that there isn't a minimum initial credit amount.

I don't really see what N26 is offering that I can't get from other online banks except that it's called "N26" which as I understand it was originally "Number 26". Personally I'm holding off until I can get a N35.7560 bank account ROFL.

The only thing that's different about N26 (thus far) is them sending the Debit Card via UPS Express-I guess Royal Mail aren't up to scratch for them :rotfl:
It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.
  • I too got the N26 beta invite but haven't applied yet. While I like Starling as I have it has my main account with salary and direct debits, I can't help thinking that some of these Fintech banks a little shady.

Signed up for Revolut but it turned out that the debit card costs £4.99 so I didn't order one. Then a few days ago I get in invite for a free debit card so I thought great, I'll order it. While I'm ordering it they ask if I want to pay £7.99 for priority delivery, I decline and opt for the slow standard (free) delivery with an ETA of 4th December. Card arrives in the post 48 hours later.

The cards are produced and sent from Germany for use UPS Express.

Once the card has been produced, its usually within a day of two when it arrives. Full tracking is also available.

I sent a message to N26 yesterday and they replied back with tracking details. Card due to be delivered today.

Not bad for the timescale of delivery from Germany.
  • I applied on the 15th and got the card on the 22nd, however they sent me two sealed envelopes (in a bigger envelope) - one with my card, one with the card of another person, completely different address. I put postage on the 2nd envelope and send it to that person, but this makes me wonder about account security with n26. Perhaps a beta launch wasn't their greatest idea...
