    Just to repeat also that if you are a single person in the Support Group I would expect your ESA allowance to be £127.15 so I would only expect your ESA award to be nil if your pension is more than this (assuming there are no other factors involved). If your pension is less than this you should get the difference.

    For a contribution based award half of any pension income over £85 would be deducted from the ESA.

    Looking ahead.
    Even if you cannot be paid any ESA if you keep your claim going you will receive NI credits. You need 35 years of NI contributions or credits to get a full state pension when you reach retirement age. You can check your existing NI record by ringing 0300 200 3500.
