Absolutely new to this - how much should I budget for a bathroom?

Agree with Dan-Dan. And plumbers are very good at minimising the amount of time you're without the loo or without running water. You can get washed in the kitchen sink. Seriously, the world won't come to an end if you don't have a shower twice a day. Or am I the only one here who's old enough to remember 'bath night'!



Also, I wouldn't want to do something as major as refitting the bathroom until I'd lived with it a bit and worked out where I wanted things to be. OH and I actually ended up sitting on the floor of the bathroom with a permanent marker, sketching out (on the lino we were replacing) where we wanted the bath to go.

I'm in the 'do it before you move in' camp. Having done a couple of bathrooms, I'd rather avoid the mess and disruption.

If you've got your heart set on a new bathroom and have the funds for it, then I don't really see the point in trying to live with the naff one that's there. It's true, we do get 'used' to living with almost anything, and will even stop noticing a naff bathroom. In that scenario though you just end up being semi-content with something you'd rather not have.
