How long should bi-fold doors reasonably last

Well, the hinge to be precise.

The hinge is made up of 4 or 5 pieces stacked up on top of each other, with what looks like a plastic washer /disc between each of those parts. One of those washer /discs has worn away and the door now creaks quite loudly. The hinge needs replacing. I don't fancy doing it myself as it connects 2 sets of double doors.
So any advice on getting it replaced would be appreciated!

But also, how long should I expect it to last to be considered fit for purpose? Is there an actual time? They're 4 years old and I feel a bit naffed off that they can't cope with 4 years of being opened and closed.

TIA for any advice you can give :)

Ask the company that supplied and/or fitted them.

They might supply you with a replacement hinge free or for a small charge.

They might even send someone to fit it for you if you ask nicely.

    Good luck.

    Are these external bi-fold doors?

I would expect them to last more than 4 years, most reputable companies should come with a warranty of at least 5 years on external doors.

    Thanks both
I asked Malbern. They said they could ask an engineer to look at it but it would be on his own time and chargeable.
The guarantee is apparently 1 year on hardware, 5 years on the glass and 10 years on the upvc.
    Yes, they're external bifolds

4 years sounds very very short to me, but it might not be worth fighting over if the repair cost is low.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?
