Eon keeps saying they haven't received my switch notification.

I'm currently with Eon but my tariff expired last weekend (September 28th) and I've now been moved to Eon's standard energy plan. However, on September 18th I applied for a new tariff with Eon through the Cheap Energy Club. Unfortunately Eon is saying they never received notice of this and that I need to contact the Cheap Energy Club/ MoneySavingExpert. I sent Cheap Energy Club/ MoneySavingExpert an email explaining my situation this past Wednesday, (October 3rd) but still haven't heard back from them. Can anyone advise me as to what I can do? I really want the tariff I was hoping to switch to but I don't want to keep waiting and paying the higher prices of Eon's standard tariff either. Thanks.

Hello dad2haley and welcome to the Forums.

Did you receive an acknowledgement from the CEC when you applied to change tariff? If you did, you'll be okay. We're currently working through a large backlog and we're late confirming tariff switches. Don't worry, we'll backdate the tariff to the day you applied through the CEC.

If you haven't received the CEC acknowledgement then it's best to continue trying to contact them as it's likely we haven't received your application.

Hope this helps point you in the right direction dad2haley.

I applied for an EON tariff on 19 September and only got their email yesterday (08 October). In an online chat last week they said it took up to 21 days to process. But I did get an email from Cheap Energy Club on 19 September saying the switch was in progress, and if I logged in to CEC it also says the same.

Hopefully your switch will be similar.

Hello PeterGr and welcome to the Forums.

It's great all's been confirmed and thanks for posting. I'm sorry it took so long to email. As above, we're working through a large backlog and timings are not where we would like. We're working to improve this.

  • I applied on the 17/9 to switch from Power via Money Saving Expert - they emailed me to confirm it had been passed to EON - it has taken weeks to finally speak to EON today - 33 days down the line - via live Chat. they say nothing received from the MSE and to go back to them and ask why they haven't done the switch. they could only confirm I am still with Power - like you I feel cheated as I will almost certainly lose the rates quoted.
WHOSE FAULT IS THIS - HAVE MSE PASSED ON THE DETAILS OR DO EON NOT WANT THE BUSINESS OR CANNOT COPE WITH THE DEMAND
Either way I feel I have to start all over again after almost 5 weeks and will have to pay higher rates. Don't know if to trust MSE again. Anyone else resolved this???

Hello Chrisg412 and welcome to the Forums.

As you've received the confirmation email from MSE all should be okay. We're still working through the backlogs I mentioned above and I suspect this is behind the delay. Once it's sorted, you'll go on the tariff requested and confirmed in the MSE email.

    Sorry for the delay Chrisg412.

  • You are not alone !
My EDF to EDF switch with CEC took 60 days to be processed despite the confirmation email from CEC arriving within a day.
Looks like CEC are doing their job but the energy companies are struggling to process the switches in a timely manner.
