Partial settlement

I've got a charging order im hopefully going to pay off in the next few weeks...this dates back 8yrs.

The company Link finical have said once paid (settlement figure not full balance) they will update credit file with partially settled.

Will this then reactivate the negative marker or not show due to the 8yrs thats passed since the debt was passed to them.

Has your status been the same since 8 years ago (is the order itself from then), or any changes?

I don't know exactly about charging orders, but I assume this is the outcome of a court judgement. For CCJs, these drop off being recorded on credit files 6 years from the event, whatever the subsequent history.

In other words, if this is already over 6 years old, and is no longer on credit files, the settlement doesn't create a new entry to bring it back.

They probably just state this standard form of words to everyone, whether under or over 6 years.

I think what the OP is saying will a new default appear on his credit file once the account is settled.

It sounds like the original default has fallen off after the six years (an 8 yr old debt)

The answer is no a new default won't appear if you settle the debt, even if partially settled.

Cheers guys thats what i thought..however started to doubt myself.

Yes was a CCJ (odd could never find it) as they have a charging order and is 8yrs old so all good,as said started to doubt myself.
