Beware, i'm switching to them from Halifax and it's not been a good experience, 3 weeks in and i have only just managed to get access to the account, iv'e had to take photo id and proof of id in branch and letter after letter, very very slow and to cap it all i moved £50 as a test transfer from Halifax on 27th September and it's not arrived.
I do not normally have problems opening accounts as they are all confirmed online.

It's been discussed in detail in a few threads, a quick search should locate them for you. The Advance account pays up for £200, whilst the regular account offers £75. As has been mentioned, the account opening/switching process is very slow and old-school (multiple paper forms to send back and forth) and can be fraught with problems, but they usually get sorted with a quick phone call or branch visit. I wouldn't want to use them as my main account, but the switching money and the 5% regular saver that comes with the Advance account is worth the effort IMO.

Just got off the phone and the money is stuck in a dormant account and has to be requested to sent to my account because even though i had the debit card and pin number with a letter welcoming me to HSBC the account wasn't open, iv'e never had that happen in any of my account applications seems HSBC are stuck in the past, i hope things are going to improve.

They would be better off looking after their long established clients who have been utilising their services for the past twenty plus years.

    Goodbye HSBC
