OP, have you used your real name as your forum username?

If so, you would be well advised to get your forum username changed to something completely anonymous.

To do that, you might like to read this short extract from The MSE Forum Guide - Frequently Asked Questions & Rules:
    Q. How can I change my username?

    A.
In most circumstances, this is not permitted.

The only reason we will change your username is if it puts your privacy at risk. This usually means you've inadvertently registered using your name, email address or something that gives away your identity within your username.

If you fall into this category, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com and request that it is changed, giving three alternative usernames in order of preference.

when i have looked at a lot of the templates a lot of the arguements dont really apply to me i think. I think maybe my defence is very thin!

    Wrong.
Im sorry if i seem a bit thick but i have never had a fine in my life before and never even set foot in court before so i am unaware of how much the charges to me will be if i lose
LESS than they are demanding now!

And it is not a fine.

    It's a speculative invoice.

Only statutary bodies can issue fines.

Private Parking companies cannot issue fines.

LOL - IT'S A SCAM! NOT A 'PENALTY' OR 'FINE' AT ALL.

These are some of the comments made by the MPs in Parliament concerning the unregulated parking industry (Feb 2018):

    https://hansard.parliament.uk/commons/2018-02-02/debates/CC84AF5E-AC6E-4E14-81B1-066E6A892807/Parking(CodeOfPractice)Bill

''Rip-offs from car park Cowboys must stop''; unfair treatment; signage deliberately confusing to ensure a PCN is issued; ''years of abuse by rogue parking companies''; bloodsuckers; ''the current system of regulation is hopeless, like putting Dracula in charge of the blood-bank''; extortionate fines; rogue operators; ''sense of injustice''; unfair charges and notices; wilfully misleading; signage is a deliberate act to deceive or mislead; ''confusing signs are often deliberate, to trap innocent drivers''; unreasonable; a curse; harassing; operating in a disgusting way; appeals service is no guarantee of a fair hearing; loathed; outrageous scam; dodgy practice; outrageous abuse; unscrupulous practices; ''the British Parking Association is as much use as a multi-storey car park in the Gobi desert''; and finally, by way of unanimous conclusion: ''we need to crack down on these rogue companies. They are an absolute disgrace to this country. Ordinary motorists and ordinary residents should not have to put up with this''.

These are the exact words used in Parliament. Do you see what it is now?

have many people actually had to go to court?
Im worried that if i do have to go i will fluff it all up as all this jargon is baffling and am frightened of saying the wrong thing and making things worse

Why don't you get a cup of coffee, and cheer yourself up by doing this search:

    another one bites the dust

on this forum which finds you all the ordinary, scared people who went to court and won, and loved it in the end! I post those words under EVERY court case won!

THOUSANDS won over the years on this forum, and a recent 99% win rate.

so therefor their demand for £350 is very steep

The good news is the £350 claims are dropped as they cannot justify the amount in court. They put this number in as people stupidly pay it rather than defend. So follow the instructions for all the other CEL threads.

They also send lots of these starting in October as again they have worked out that lots of people get stressed at this time of year and pay. It's like their Xmas comes early so be a scrooge and don't pay - fight.
