What kind of tree is this please?

The leaves appear to be the shape of hazel, but they seem too large.[STRIKE] A large leaved form of lime is my best guess at present, but the size of the tree is small for its age if that's the case.
[/STRIKE] No, scrub that; I'm going with hazel, but where are the nuts?
A picture of a single leaf or group of leaves would be more useful now than more of the whole tree.0 -
OK thanks.
Here's a closeup picture. Is that much help?
I really apreciate any info on it.0 -
Yes it's hazel and it looks like the tree has been pruned carefully, which may help explain the large leaves and lack of nuts. Hazels can become very congested, so it pays to cut out crossing branches and make a strong framework.
Nice theory, but most of mine are cut with a tractor flail!:rotfl:
Hazel branches a couple of years old make good pea sticks.0 -
Thank you so much!
That's a photo of my neighbour's tree, so I'll get one next year for my garden as I really like it.
Thanks again!0
