    Why not give your half of the cost in cash to the people who are buying your house.

    We did this when one of my fence panels fell down just before we exchanged / completed.

    We didn't have time to change the panel so my solicitor sent the new owners £30 for a new panel as part of the purchase. Just felt the right thing to do.

    I don't think the responsibility for that side was mine but the neighbouring property was tenanted and he definitely wasn't going to replace it.
