Garden Maintenance
Comments
-
Interestedparty - thanks for your comments, we queried the state of the garden before we moved in (as it was heavily overgrown) and the landlord sorted the issue by getting gardeners into cut the brambles weeds in the grass down to ground level and the bushs were trimmer back.
When we moved in(December) we did inspect the garden again and notice the roots of the weeds/brambles were still in the ground and the LA said he would follow up with the Landlord.
We got told the LL was speaking to their gardener and they would come in the spring to sort the roots out, they never came after much chasing so we have done a good job in maintaining and improving the quality of the grass (brought my own lawnmower and a strimmer).
Looking forward to my weekend in the garden :-)0 -
I'm still not sure I understand your problem. You now say you like gardening but make a point of the fact that you've bought a lawnmower and a strimmer. Surely they're basic tools for a gardener? I would have thought a pair of shears would be in your basic toolkit as well.
Yes OP, I sympathise with you regarding the bramble roots and the fact that you were promised they would be dealt with, and haven't. Brambles are a pain to get out.
But as for holly bushes, I have some holly bushes in my garden and I trim them once a year (with hand shears). I also have brambles which I keep my eye on and cut back as they grow. If it were my own garden (I'm a renter) I'd do something to remove them permanently but I make do. If that's the only extra work that spoils your idea of gardening - mowing the lawn and weeding (as you say in an earlier post) then it's not really a lot of work. It certainly comes under 'basic maintenance ' as far as I can see.I can't imagine a life without cheese. (Nigel Slater)0 -
I am going to add a hedge trimmer to my variety of garden tools, will let you know once I have successfully completed my work!0
