Hi,
I just want to confirm, if my account went into default in Sept 2016 and was Settled/Satisfied in Nov 2017, the 6 years period will be from Sept 2016 or when the debt was paid off in 2017?
And if I separated from my ex, will I be connected with him forever? Or it is something will drop off in period of time as well?
I'm using noddle, and I'm a bit worried because the score hasn't change for almost a year now. I was thinking to apply for remortgage.
Thanks.
San

Hi,
The default will be removed from your credit file, six years from the date of default (Sept 2016).
And if your are separated from your wife then you can submit a notice of disassociation with the three CRAs.I work within the voluntary sector, supporting vulnerable people to rebuild their lives.

Firstly ignore the made up score.
The debt will drop off 6 years from the date of default.
If you no longer have any linked products with your ex, such as a mortgage or current account, then you need to file a notice of disassociation with each of the 3 CRA's0 -
I've been doing my best to build my credit rating.
I've been paying off my car and a loan that I took just to build my credit.
after two years of paying debits and never missing a payment I checked my Experian report (which is the only credit bureau that the co - ownership in n.ireland will work with )
has no record of these account let allowing my payment history. and they can only see a single default of a phone contract that car phone warehouse sold me 2 contract instead of 1 that I didn't know about.0 -
So if ex name still on the mortgage, even though we separated, I can't really file a notice?0

I have contacted Experian they told me to contact the creditor as it is them that would share the information with the credit bureaus.
once contacting them they explained they only work with one of the other credit bureau.0 -
If you are still both paying toward the mortgage then I don't believe you can file the notice of disassociation. So if ex name still on the mortgage, even though we separated, I can't really file a notice?I work within the voluntary sector, supporting vulnerable people to rebuild their lives.

Unfortunately not. As long as you hold a joint financial product with them, you will be financially linked and both credit files will be assessed when either of you make a credit application. You could post a notice of correction on each of your files to explain your situation, but this is unlikely to achieve much0
