persistent fault from purchase please help!!!!

So I have been having car problems with Evans halshaw, exeter (wish i had read the threads here before dealing with them). In a nut shell - persistant fault since purchase 18months ago, they kept telling me it was sorted. After latest breakdown i had enough and they finally undertook a proper investigation and also sent it to manufacturer- can't work out the cause of the fault. I want a partial refund as per consumer rights. They are only offering to buy it it off me for trade value - £1200 diffference. They are not part of an ombudsman and I don't know where to go from here. Please help, surely this isn't right?
The issue that I have experienced was: The car broke down (totally flat battery) within 3 weeks of purchase. Carstore replaced the battery and alternator and said the problem was fixed. The same thing happened again 6 months later. The battery was replaced again as it was under warranty. Again, I was told the problem was fixed. The same thing happened again 10 months later (end of August) at which point I insisted on a more thorough investigation as they had obviously not correctly identified the original problem. They could not identify the problem and neither could Ford when it was sent to them. If carstore had done a proper job when the problem first occurred I could have easily exercised my rights to return and refund at the point. Carstore did not do this and failed to do it again last October when the problem occured again. Carstore are unable to fix a problem that was clearly present when i purchased the car.
Alongside this problem, Carstore did not register the change of ownership into my name, despite me chasing a number of times for this to happen. This meant that my direct debit for car tax was not able to be processed, I was not able to receive reminders as I was not the registered owner, and ended up having my car clamped for lack of tax payment. Neil Gooding accepted Carstore's responsibility and agreed to refund me the £100 clamp-release fee I paid. This has not yet happened, despite me chasing for payment (this occured at the beginning of August).
Carstore have offered to purchase my car at trade value (£3000)which I am not happy with.

Difficult to follow post .
Question how old was the car at purchase and what cost .
18 months later what mileage have you done and what have they offered as a refund ??
What figure are you after ??
You can send them an LBA letter before action ( see google for templates .
Next stop would be court action by you .0 -
Hi there,
Thanks for.your reply - sorry the thread was hard to follow.
I have done 10,000 miles (just under)
I am looking for around £4200 which is the it's current value and they have offered £3000. I am basing the value on parkers as Evans halshaw seem to use an algorithm that produces similar prices for the car prices (I have no other way of gauging a fair price otherwise). Their offer is the trade purchase price which I think is unfair as I didn't purchase at a t4ade price so don't see why the refund should be based on it. (Evans halshaw have offered to buy the car back and not refund me - a distinction I think is important for consumer rights but which they don't seem to be able to get their heads around).
Oh, it was 6 years old when I bought it.
Thank you for the advice!!+:money:0 -
