PIP Claim - new to all this

Options
Hi,

I wondered if anyone knew how long Pip forms take once you have rang? My husband called yesterday and the automated service said 8-10 weeks for a new claim but is that 8-10 weeks just to get the form or 8-10 weeks to get an appointment? We doubt he will get approved for it as it seems hard to get approved but the job centre told him to apply. We have been 8 weeks without his SSP since it stopped and still trying to sort "new style" esa which they said should be finally sorted this week but mentioned he should have enough points for a certain level of mobility. He is still on crutches following an accident in january where a lady knocked him off his bike and drove over his foot and shattered it. We aren't holding our breath about getting it but just wondered about timescales.

Sorry for the long post x

Hi there, I'm new to this as well first post was yesterday.
In my experience it takes 2-3 weeks to receive the form after the initial application made over the phone. Then 6-8 weeks once the form has been sent off to DWP. After which the assessment providers get in touch regarding the face to face assessment. So a good 2.5-3 months from start to finish, maybe even longer. Hope this helps.

    Regards

There's no timescales. It really depends on backlog in your area. Some take a few months and others can take several months.

Did you send evidence to support the claim? They very rarely contact anyone for this and the onus is on you to make sure it's sent to support your claim.

Same with ESA, eventually you'll be sent an ESA50 form called how your disability affects you. This will need to be filled in and returned no later that the date stated in the letter. Again evidence will be needed to support the claim.

Expect a face to face assessment for both PIP and ESA as most people have them. Good luck with both.
  • depends on your area, I know somebody still waiting for an assessment 4 months since returning forms and get as much evidence as humanely possible while you wait,
  • Hi, we havent sent anything as evidence as we havent received the form to fill in yet. We have been without anything coming in for my husband since 3rd august, being passed from pillar to post between Esa, Universal credit and then new style esa. The Esa application wasnt sent off by the woman at the job centre when my husband checked after 10 working days so they said doing it immediately, he called back a few hours later, she had sent it to the wrong department and now he has called today to be told ring back next week. Its a good job we have been able to get credit cards to help us, otherwise we would be in a right mess.

I hope ESA gets sorted next week and we get the forms for PIP soon x

You should get the PIP forms 10-14 days after you request them.
