Active direct debits

Sorry if this question has been asked before.
I'm trying to set up 2 Direct Debits in a bank account so I can do a switch to another bank. One of the DD's I was going to use is to a credit card I don't often use, so there wouldn't always be a payment each month.
I'm presuming this would still be considered as a valid DD? Or shouldn't I presume!!
Thanks in advance for your advice.

Yes an active direct debit won't necessarily pay out every month. It still normally counts as active though.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. You'll need to check the T&Cs for the bank your switching to - some require it to pay out monthly, some just want it to be "active".
An "active" DD is one that has paid out at any point in the preceding 13 months, so your CC DD should be goodIf you get stuck for more DD ideas, check out this thread

The term "active direct debit" makes me think that you want to switch to M&S Bank. A DD that's gone out at least once in the last 13 months will be considered active and you'll get the £125.00 gift card but if you want the £5.00 monthly bonus you'll need both DDs going out every months. You can just use the credit card to buy lunch once a month and this will keep the DD alive. The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.0

I'm pretty sure the £5 monthly reward requires they they remain active, not that they have to actually pay out - same criteria as those needed to switch0 -

I can confirm I have received the £5 monthly reward, without having any dds going out in a month (But do have 2 active ones, which pay out annually).0 -

You are actually right and I thank you for the eye opening. By the way, I've just noticed that M&S Bank have changed the DD requirement from 2 to 4.The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.0 -
