looking for the cheapest quote for his first car insurance on a 2014 vauxhall corsa 1.2 limited edition. Every quote is crazy up to now. Cheapest £2200 for 10,000 miles per year.
To much risk to go on my insurance and he will never build his no claims bonus up.
Thanks
Andrew

Maddog - £2200 isn't actually that bad against other prices that get quoted on this forum. It's likely that you're being offered a policy which requires his driving to be monitored (black box or app). The key is to get the first year under his belt claim free. A year older and I year NCD does make a big difference. Good luck0

You chose the wrong car. Too many new drivers buy Corsa's and promply crash them.
Not the cheapest car to insure.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Just hit the price comparison sites, add yourself as a named driver as this often reduces premiums, he will be best going for a black box/ telematics policy as far as getting a sensible premium, but he really then needs to drive like a pensioner as the driving style is constantly monitored so any harsh braking, hard acceleration or fast cornering gets reported back and either the premium increases or the policy can get cancelled.0

.
Agreed. From experience, you need a car that is so uncool that no teenager would want to be seen driving one, so has no record of anyone ever crashing one.
A 25 year old 2.3 litre Volvo estate halved my daughter's premium compared with a small-engined Corsa.
The only trouble was she didn't want to drive it.

I've highlighted the reason why it's so expensive. You bought him a classic boy racer car and he's being charged a premium which reflects the fact that a) he's likely to crash when revving around with his mates and b) he's likely to cause some expensive damage either to his car or more likely someone else's property.
Should get him something unfashionable, slow and sturdy which will be cheaper to insureSam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.
