APCOA - Interesting one - 5 seconds from being liable

So my local leisure centre has just discontinued using it's coin operated meter and now requires you to use the APCOA app.
Incident occurred on a Sunday where you are granted 90mins free parking
Previously if about to over run the 90mins I'd go and manually top up another 50p. This time I had to scramble to install the app, register and then purchase an additional two hours.
All fine - until just received a Parking Charge Notice (via postal) addressed to the registered keeper - which I thought was odd as I was sure I'd used the app correctly and in time.
Having checked the CCTV grabs I can see I entered car park at
09:16.05 and then exited at 11:27 - more than 90mins
However looking at my invoice in the app, I can see I purchased 2 hours at 10:46
So in effect I had used 89m55s of my 90mins
Question is, having read up the NEWBIE advice thread - do I just go for a blue word template rejection of the charge and do not issue a defence, or do I follow up with the above claiming I had 5 seconds to spare?
Technically I think I'm just in the clear, but as advised in the other threads I don't really want to engage them direct with names and further details etc.
Thoughts?
Many thanks

yes , use the blue text appeal to APCOA, as keeper (not driver , no blabbing)
assuming they got your info from the dvla and issued a postal notice, they already have the keepers name and address
so if this was a postal notice, appeal as keeper using the blue text appeal, DO NOT try to reinvent the wheel
and look up GRACE PERIODS in the BPA CoP whilst you are at it
and look up POFA2012 liability (or not) too
also, complain to the gym and insist on a cancellation0 -
thanks for the swift reply Redx and all the advice
re the Grace Periods/POFA - that something to save for a stage 2? ie to keep in back pocket?
re complaining to the gym? what mode of contact - email/in person/postal? again as registered keeper and not driver? Do you go into details, or just a flat out I want it cancelled as I'm a regular customer etc?
many thanks0 -
correct , save your ammunition for the popla appeal
use any and ALL means at your disposal to complain to the gym and get it cancelled
ideally, speak to the gym manager with a copy of the NTK and leave the copy with them for cancellation asap , no excuses
you so as much as is required to ensure they cancel it due to the recent changes that mean there should be a "bedding in" period , so read about that in the BPA CoP as well0 -

or other older non touch screen phones, these are usually the older generation,l how are they expected to use the app to pay for parking? From the Plain Language Commission:
"The BPA has surely become one of the most socially dangerous organisations in the UK"0 -
APCOA will likely fold when they see the forum template appeal. If not they will fold when they see the long POPLA appeal from the registered keeper.
Did you register your VRN correctly, no transposed numbers/letters? No 'O' as 0?PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
