RAF museums.... Hendon v Cosford..?

Does anyone know both and feel able to offer advice about which is the better experience?

Cosford is closer to us but the website seems to imply that it's more of a kiddies day out. We want something to show adults interested in aviation history.

I have only been to Hendon (on several occasions over the years) and it is excellent. You do get a lot of kids there, particularly on wet days during the school holidays, as it is free admission. Sometimes free is a mixed blessing!

However I would regard it as aimed at least as much at adults as at children.

No experience of Cosford but what I have heard has been positive. Certainly not heard any suggestions that one is for grown ups and the other for children.....

Duxford is another one, it's huge and lots to do and see there.

I went to Cosford in 2014 and Hendon in 2015; both are free although you do have to pay for parking. Cosford is slightly smaller and I found Hendon more interesting, and more busy in school holidays.

I would also recommend Duxford as well as Yeovilton in Somerset.

As it should be for £19 a head to get in!

Plus the Shuttleworth Collection at Old Warden in Bedfordshire.

I found Hendon jaw-droppingly good but if the Cold War period is of any particular interest, a lot of that part of the collection was moved toCcosford a few years back.

So I would imagine it has got a lot better since then too..?

Cosford is 100% not a kiddies day out .
Its a very large aircraft museum with a very very small childrens section .
Takes a good few hours to go round .
