Flat Flooded... still nothing done

Options
Just having a moan really cos I'm probably not the only one. Was flooded with sewage water in July.. I'm in alternative accomodation until March.. I've not had any interim cash payments and Loss adjuster hasn't even approved the removal or storage of my furniture yet... So no stripping out done either..only 1 dehumidifier put in my flat for 2 weeks and then declared dry (until stripped out)... builder came round last week to quote and agreed that bedroom is still damp to touch....

Anyone else feel as it nothing has happened in months?

Hi Feater, Sorry to hear that nothing has been done to help you.I would contact the insurance company and demand to know what is going on and why there is such a delay in dealing with your claim.
  • My flat was flooded out in July too. You need to be more persistant. Keep chasing the loss adjusters. Yes, you will feel like you are being a pain - but it seems to be the only way. I work in the property industry so when the buildings insurance company sent their loss adjuster to meet me he said it'd take ages for one of their 'preferred' builders to attend the property so I asked if I could source my own contractors - which I did. Also, with regard to the dehumidifiers, I sourced my own contractor.

It has been such a long and drawn-out process which has proved very stressful, but keep with it. KEEP RINGING THEM!!

    Good luck :)

just a quick update. Agreement has been made for claim untill work has been done to strip out flat and see what other damage has occurred... Only taken 7 months to agree a payment.. Maybe I'll be back home in less than a year!!!

I am near a couple of homes who had minimal flooding, but needed new floors, and I have witnessed the "professional" contractors, to dry out, and then to do the work, I would go down he route of your own contractors, these guys are total cowboys, taking on too much work, put in one tradesman and unskilled labourers, had to constant check each day and get thing re-done, then don't turn up for days, back home dates never seem to happen on time.
These guys also are very expensive and really hike it up for the insurance companies, but they do not seem to see that.
