Attempted to pay debt but balance £0?

Good evening
I randomly recieved a letter from trace debt recovery UK limited for £160 owed to NCP on August 15th 2018. I had had no previous correspondence about any parking fines prior to this. Seeing that it was NCP, I decided to ignore it.
I recieved a second letter for their final demand for £160 on September 3rd 2018, again, I ignored it.

Basically what has happened is I haven't updated my log book for 3 years (eek!) so this fine has obviously been sent to an old address. I came to this realisation as I have been unfortunate enough to recieve a separate penalty charge notice from the council, and have now recieved a letter from bailiffs with a warrant to execute in 7 days. I don't think I can avoid this, so will probably pay the £408 charge tomorrow to make them go away - a very expensive mistake to make.

Anyway, I got scared so decided to also pay trace debt recovery off to make it all go away. I went on their website today (1/10/2018), clicked pay now, put the reference number in, it says I owe £0.00. What does this mean? Has the debt been wiped.... Or has something more sinister happened? What should I do?

Don't PAY Trace! OMG stop. Just stop. They are just debt collectors who write letters. What has happened that's sinister is you are trying to pay a scam PCN.

Just stop trying to pay either of them, get over to pepipoo NOW re the real penalty.

Then come back here and carry on with advice for that daft NCP scam PCN. No-one pays these, my goodness I hope I've stopped you from being mugged.

You simply need to reply to Trace and confirm your new address is the correct one for service, and to ask if you can appeal the PCN since it was never served, and can NCP give you a POPLA code.

DO NOT phone them. DO NOT PAY, no matter what they say back at you. Come here even when court is threatened. Guess what? That is STILL not a time to pay a scam!

OK, thank you. I was confident ignoring trace but now this real warrant has shook me up. I am so scared my car will be removed off the drive or something. I have contacted the council by email asking what is going on and have been trying to call them repeatedly to ask for a chance to appeal today. I am pregnant so understand I will be classed as 'vulnerable' (pssh!) but am still very scared.

Hide it, because yes it could be clamped (not removed just like that, but clamped). Put it in a friend's garage out of sight, not round the corner! DO NOT let bailiffs in.

Get on pepipoo right now, tonight, and do not post without photos of the letter.

Don't confuse them by talking about the scam NCP /Trace one, stay here for that one.
