Holiday insurance...No help!

Hi, Following some months of Chemotherapy for Prostate problem, we were advised to get specific insurance for a city break in Palma.O the first full day I started to pass blood and clots++ ( 1st time). We phoned "Insurance with" for advice / guidance at 8pm. There was only an answerphone message..."number not allocated to client". This is all we could get after more attempts.
We looked online and managed to get flights back home following morning. I did get through to my Specialist Urology nurse who's reassured us that this would be unlikely to be serious. But felt that the money paid was wasted.Wife did phone to ask what was going on but no real help.Do we have a case to complain for money back? thanks.

I am not sure what you are looking for.
How long should the break have been for? Could you have seen a doctor there and got reassurance rather than immediately flying home? Did you use the number on your policy documents with the UK dialling code and dropping the first 0? Have you spoken to the insurer since you got back?0 -
Whenever you are unhappy with your insurer the route to take is a formal complaint in line with their complaints procedure
Then if you don't like the reply or they ignore you for 8 weeks you can escalate to the FOS for their adjudication all at no cost to you0 -
The hol. was meant to be 4 nights .We arrived 8pm Monday, bleed the following evening and came home the next morning.Perhaps you are (Happy..) not familiar with the feeling of loosing blood from the bladder in. a foreign country .In addition, the IC failure to answer the call also raises concerns re. the reliability of the firm to cover any med expenses incurred. My original post states we did contact the firm. I will call again tomorrow . We called the number we where given.0

I was trying to help by ascertaining the facts first, but I detect you didn't take kindly to that.0 -

Follow this advice.
Should it make it to the Ombudsman, the service is free to you but normally costs the Insurer circa £400 which can focus their minds.
The Ombudsman looks at what is fair, they may also instruct the Insurer to make an (In effect) ex gratia payment to you0
