Electric key meter no 2nd rate for economy 7
i've just signed for a tenancy and it has an electric key meter Telexus Actaris meter
the flat has brand new night storage heaters, dimplex quantum, and a hot water immersion tank with a control panel from Horstmann Electronic 7, presumably for E7 heating control, you can program when the immersion heater will come on
the key meter has no 2nd rate for E7 tariff when I was scrolling through it, unless i'm doing it wrong.
I have to get a new key anyway, as there is a small repayment coming off the key for debt from the previous tenant.
is it a simple matter of phoning the supplier getting a new key and the new key will put the meter on to an E7 tariff, or does someone have to come out and program it?
here's a photo of the meter

Pressing the blue button 5 times would get you to screen "G" which is the total kwh s the meter has recorded since it was fitted.
If its correctly set up for Eco 7 the screen "H " show the day total kwhs with the next screen "I " showing the price per unit (kwh )
Screen "J " shows the night total kws with the next screen "K " showing the price per unit.
If its not displaying those codes then its not charging Eco 7 correctly .
These meters can programmed by the supplier only when you top up at a paypoint or the supplier could send you a new key0 -

Thanks
it only has the G total, H rate 1 the I pence, with the rate being 15.30, maybe the previous tenants just signed up for a single rate tariff.
so if I phone the supplier and ask for an E7 tariff they can do this remotely and when I use the key the meter will be updated?0 -
Yes they can do that, but only if the meter is wired up for Eco 7. If not they would have to exchange the meter if you wanted Eco7
.. You have to insert the key to see the debt screens on "S " and "T ".. these are different from the small amounts of standing charge debts which can build up if someone has nt been crediting the meter very often.
Screen A shows credit and this screen can go into debit if standing charges have nt been paid. I think the BG standing charges are around £1.80 a week. Screen F has info on standing charges.
The debt screens on "S " and "T " can have much larger amounts of money owed to the supplier, up to a max of £16 a week so you do not want to be paying someones else`s debts off0
