Windermere Day Trip

We have some family near Windermere and were thinking of going there by car late October.
We have 3 young children between (3-10), a dog and are not able to walk that much (one of us has a dodgy knee).
Any recommendations on where to eat and park etc and see the views whilst those who can walk and run (children and dog).

    Hi,

Having just visited there today I would suggest using one of the car parks in Bowness Upon Windermere, it's below Windermere about a couple of minutes drive from Windermere itself (would not suggest parking in Windermere and walking down if one of you has a dodgy knee).

From there you have access to some walks and to all the boat trips that leave from there, there is plenty of options for eating in Bowness itself too.

    Hope that helps.

Unfortunately i'd left there by lunchtime and headed over to Coniston, I can reccomend the traditional pasties from the Cornish Bakery in Bowness though!
