Gladstone’s solicitors letter

Hi I have received a letter from Gladstone’s solicitors, the quote number begins with 5 and is 7 digits long.
“We have been instructed by Smart Parking Ltd in relation to the above debt” which is £160 and has increased from £100.
What would you advise I do here? This is in relation to me not paying for parking in May 2018, I may receive another letter of the same kind as I have received parking fine letters for two separate occasions in the same month, from smart parking and zenith collections.
I have seen some template letters but none of the ones I have seen are suitable for my situation, I.e they are to appeal the fact that the vehicle was not present at the location when it was and they have photographic proof of this. What shall I do? Is there a template letter that you can provide me to send? Because I have read from previous forums that the best line of action is to send a letter to Gladstone’s with a copy of this letter to ask if it was them (which it wasn’t because the quote number doesn’t begin with 1 or contain a full stop)
Thanks in advance!

What was wrong with the answers in this thread from today you could have read:

IMHO there is nothing to be gained by replying to debt letters like this Gs one.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

In hindsight I probably should’ve checked for more recent threads on the same topic but that’s for getting back to me nonetheless.
So just to confirm I should ignore this letter and should only act if I get a court letter?
Thanks again0 -
Hi I have received a letter from Gladstone’s solicitors, the quote number begins with 5 and is 7 digits long.
I do not believe this at all
I do not believe that GLADRAGS sent it or even composed it, more likely that DRPL composed it and sent it (debt collectors)
it could say Boris Johnson on a bottle of water, but I do not believe that Boris made or sold that bottle. they even have "Boris Bikes" in London, but he did not make them either
dont believe everything you read0 -
If you took the time to read the last sentence of what I wrote, you’d see me acknowledging that I know it wasn’t really them who sent it.0

in which case you will have taken the time yourself to read post #4 of the NEWBIES FAQ sticky thread and know not to send anything and to IGNORE drpl, THEREFORE there was no need to post this thread at all
if and when GLADRAGS do actually send an LBC with the financial forms and 30 days to respond, come back to this thread for further help
sometimes doing nothing is the correct thing to do
ps:- the thread title says GLADSTONES SOLICITORS LETTER which is confusing
it should actually say DRPL letter on incorrectly headed notepaper
and I quoted your own words, which are economical with the truth0 -
Redx isn't criticising you, we are friendly really!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Touch! my friend thanks for the help0

so if you do decide to send GLADRAGS a letter about this, you need to determine the reasons for this letter, so you know what to put into it
you also need to be fully aware of the reason for doing this, plus be prepared to take it further if GLADRAGS confirm that they did not send it and have no knowledge of it (because DRPL composed and sent it which is trying to con the recipient)
therefore, any forums that tell people to do this have an agenda, so only do this if you are fully conversant with that agenda and prepared to carry it out
for those people who realise that this is a con by DRPL with misinformation and/or blatant lies , the vast majority would ignore it same as any previous DRPL or ZENITH letters beforehand
personally, I would only take this up if an official LBC came from Gladrags themselves, with a reference starting with a 1 and to contact or pay gslcollections (not DRPL), this LBC should follow the oct 2017 PaP protocols for any LBC too
so do nothing at all until you have to, UNLESS you have an agenda to prove the deceptions and stir the pot with the SRA and the ICO and your MP etc0 -
If letters ostensibly from Gladstones contain misinformation and/or blatant lies you should copy them to the SRA., especially if they are demanding money.

This is an entirely unregulated industry which is scamming the public with inflated claims for minor breaches of contracts for alleged parking offences, aided and abetted by a handful of low-rent solicitors.
Parking Eye, CPM, Smart, and another company have already been named and shamed, as has Gladstones Solicitors, and BW Legal, (these two law firms take hundreds of these cases to court each year). They lose most of them, and have been reported to the regulatory authority by an M.P.
for unprofessional conduct
Hospital car parks and residential complex tickets have been especially mentioned.
The problem has become so rampant that MPs have agreed to enact a Bill to regulate these scammers. Watch the video of the Second Reading in the House of Commons recently

and complain in the most robust terms to your MP. With a fair wind they will be out of business by Christmas. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0
