Argos Storecard

I applied for an Argos storecard to take advantage of the Buy Now - Pay 9mths later offer on a large purchase, which I fully intend to clear after 9mths so not bothered about their interest rates, but I didn't get an instant decision online and they said they would contact me in a few days following further checks.

Has anyone had this happen to them and then subsequently been offered the card?

I have a good credit rating but I guess I do have rather a lot of credit available to me at the moment, mostly unused from credit cards that I've previously stoozed and tarted, so I realise this might go against me, but it's been almost 6mths since I last applied for any form of credit.

This can happen to anyone and for various reasons,from the normal address and credit checking to a error in details entered in to the system,if you have a surname of Smith and this closely matches another Smith it may have to be check twice before you are told you are sucessful if you have any doubts check your credit file and make sure old accounts and cards show as settled.
If it happens twice in a row I would definately check my credit file to make sure they are not mistaking you for someone else.

i cant speak for online applications as i have no experience of them, but i do know that that a signigifanct amount of applications made in store that are not given an instant decision are ultimtely declined for one reason or another. argos card services are pretty selective about who they will lend to.

Ahhh, sounds like I probably won't get it then which isn't too much of a problem as I hadn't planned to actually apply for the card until I saw the 9mths pay later offer so thought I'd just chance it and see.

Will wait for the decision before going ahead and ordering what I needed anyway
