  • This is all seller risk. If the seller is happy, and you have something to document your occupation of their property in this period, then its really no different to renting anywhere else.

In terms of "don't be in contact with the seller" advice. I am not sure why so many people are so adamant that all communications about practical matters must be conducted by solicitors. They don't. Its totally usual and reasonable to have a conversation / discussion between buyer and seller other than via the solicitors.

I have never understood this 'want to be in for Christmas' thing. It's a nightmare time at the best of times. Things will be in boxes. You'll be so sick of bloody boxes, the last thing you will want down from the loft or whatever is more boxes with Christmas crap in with all the usual clutter spread around rooms (tree, decorations, etc). Nor will you want to be wrapping yet more boxes/presents once you're in lol, especially if you've done the move yourself and wrapped a thousand items!

Maybe resign yourself to enjoying a calm Christmas in your current house for one last time before the chaos commences... :D

It's all rather weird.... Perhaps he fears losing the sale... Cant you just both set a date for completion in a month or whatever, agreed between lawyers... then isn't everyone's mind at rest?
