    Why do you think that? They allocate them sequentially, so transposing a couple of digits and entering one wrong is quite likely to hit a valid account.
    I always set up and save a payee with a small value and confirm it has arrived before sending a higher value. I mostly send money between my own accounts, but friends and family have been ok with this on the odd occasion & I try not to send money to businesses for obvious reasons.

    As a previous genuine recipient, your son must know at least their name, and probably some other contact details:cool:.
    If they use WhatsApp the person might have a picture uploaded in their profile picture which might jog memories of who the person is.
